What Data We Collect

We collect personal information in the following ways:

When You Register for a Membership

Name and email address
Billing address and payment information (processed securely by Stripe — we do not store full card details)
Shipping address (for Founding Family welcome kit delivery)
Account password (stored in encrypted form)

When You Visit Our Website

IP address and browser type (used for security and spam detection)
Pages visited and time spent on site (via analytics)

When You Leave a Comment

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, including your name, email address, and the comment itself. We also collect your IP address and browser user agent string to help with spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available at automattic.com/privacy. After approval, your profile picture may be visible to the public alongside your comment.

Media Uploads

If you upload images to the website, avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Payment Processing

All payments are processed securely through Stripe. We do not store your full credit card number, CVV, or complete payment details on our servers.

What Stripe collects: Stripe collects and processes your payment details, billing address, and transaction history. This data is governed by Stripe’s own Privacy Policy, available at stripe.com/privacy.

What we receive: We receive a confirmation of payment, the last four digits of your card, card expiry date, and billing name — nothing more.

Founding Family payment plans: For members on the 10-payment plan, Stripe retains your payment method on file to process monthly installments. You can update or change your payment method at any time through the member billing portal.

Membership Account Data

When you create a membership account we store the following information in your user profile:

Name and email address
Membership level and join date
Billing and shipping address
Payment history and subscription status
Content access history and preferences

This information is used to provide your membership benefits, process payments, deliver your welcome kit (Founding Family members), send member communications, and improve the membership experience.

We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising purposes.

Founding Family members: Your name is used for the named recognition perk — it will be displayed as part of the Founding Family acknowledgment within the membership community. If you have concerns about how your name is displayed, contact us at halwilsoncomedy@gmail.com.

Essential Cookies

When you log in to your member account, we set cookies to save your login information and display preferences. Login cookies last for two days. If you select “Remember Me” your login will persist for two weeks. When you log out, login cookies are removed.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data. We share your data only in the following limited circumstances:

Stripe: Payment processing. Your billing details are shared with Stripe to process transactions and manage subscriptions.
WishList Member: Our membership platform plugin stores and manages your account and access level data within our WordPress installation.
Email service provider: Your email address may be shared with our email platform to send membership communications, announcements, and quarterly call invites.
Shipping providers: Founding Family members’ names and shipping addresses are shared with our shipping provider to deliver welcome kits.
Legal requirements: We may disclose your data if required to do so by law or in response to valid legal process.
Password resets: If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.
Spam detection: Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

How Long We Keep Your Data

Active Members

We retain your account information and membership data for as long as your account is active. This includes your name, email, billing history, and content access records.

Cancelled Members

When you cancel your membership we retain your basic account information and billing history for up to 7 years for legal and accounting purposes. After that period your personal data is deleted.

Founding Family Members

Because Founding Family membership is a lifetime tier, your account data is retained permanently for as long as the platform operates. Your name recognition as a Founding Family member is also permanent.

Comments

Comments and their metadata are retained indefinitely so we can recognize and approve follow-up comments automatically.

Payment Records

Transaction records are retained for 7 years in accordance with financial record-keeping requirements.

Your Rights

You have the following rights regarding your personal data:

Access: You can request a copy of all personal data we hold about you.
Correction: You can update your personal information at any time through your account settings.
Deletion: You can request that we delete your personal data. Note that we may be required to retain certain data for legal or financial purposes.
Portability: You can request an exported file of your personal data in a machine-readable format.
Objection: You can object to certain types of data processing, including marketing communications.
Withdrawal of consent: Where processing is based on consent, you can withdraw that consent at any time.

Founding Family members note: Requesting deletion of your account data while on an active payment plan will not cancel your payment obligation. Please contact us to discuss payment plan arrangements before requesting data deletion.

Encrypted password storage — we never store passwords in plain text
Payment data handled exclusively by Stripe using PCI-DSS compliant infrastructure

Children’s Privacy

Our membership platform is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected data from a child under 13, please contact us immediately and we will delete that information.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make significant changes we will notify active members by email and update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.

Continued use of your membership after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
